The number of people who suffer from allergies has been increasing significantly within the last decades. Scientists have revealed that our modern lifestyle also boost the growth of allergies. If we want to reduce the opportunity of our children from having allergy after they grown up, we should change our unhealthy lifestyle. One of the things that we can start to do, is preventing allergies through baby food.
Besides hereditary factors from the parents, a baby could get allergy from early exposure to allergen, such as milk and eggs. Even when the mother breastfeed her baby, the baby can still be exposed to allergen from its mother's diet. So, what is the safest way to feed your baby?
In the past, parents used to give solid food to their babies beginning on the age of four month. However, nowadays, where parents tend to have busier life, everyone seek for faster and simple ways to feed their baby. Solid food, formula milk and other ready-to-consume baby foods, which contain food additive and other chemicals, have been given to babies before four months old, or even much earlier. Studies revealed that the efforts to delay giving solid food to babies until four months old, could protect the babies from allergy, especially eczema. In several cases, two years old kids get eczema because of the solid food they had before their four months age.
Breastfeeding your baby is the most reasonable way to protect your baby from allergy and to boost the immune system. What you should keep in mind, is too avoid foods with high level of allergen, such as dairy, peanuts, eggs or fish. Especially if the parents already have a history of allergy.
On the other hand, the consumption of fruits and vegetables which are much - much healthier have been left over nowadays.
Why fruits and vegetables?
Because fruits and vegetables contain a lot of antioxidant which can protect body's immune system and clean body from free radical that attack your healthy DNA. The most important nutrition with antioxidant are Vitamin A, C, E, and selenium. Antioxidant is contained in fresh fruits and vegetables, such as cranberries, blueberries, strawberries, peaches, tomatoes, spinach, sweet potatoes, carrots, etc.
So, while genetic factor could not be avoided, let's protect our babies from allergy through baby food. Delay giving solid food until the baby is four months old, and top it with a healthy diet for the breastfeeding mom. Choose nutritional foods or probiotics food sources to get a better health and immune system, which are the most important components to prevent allergy
