Many people suffer from yeast allergies. Whether they are allergic to yeast products or simply react to foods containing yeast, it is a common problem that can usually be controlled with diet. Eating foods that contain yeast may cause your body to react. Consuming large quantities of yeast at the same time; i.e. eating pizza and drinking beer may also cause an allergic reaction.
Yeast is not all bad. Our stomachs and digestive organs contain yeast that helps breakdown the food we consume and keep the digestive system in good working order. Too much yeast, or too much of a foreign yeast can cause allergic and other digestive related reactions.
People who are allergic to yeast products must avoid foods that contain yeast as much as possible. The degree of avoidance is directly related to the significance of the allergy. For example, I am mildly allergic to yeast. It makes me feel terrible, but does not cause life-threatening symptoms.
There are some very common symptoms among those allergic to yeast products: - Headaches - Eczema - Skin rashes - Fatigue - Acne or pimples
If you experience other, more severe symptoms, seek out professional medical advice. Severe allergic reactions to yeast are uncommon and usually found in childhood. If you experience a new reaction, see your doctor immediately.
You may experience some of the symptoms above, or like me, have an upset stomach for a short period of time. This is completely normal, and the symptoms go away completely when no yeast containing foods are consumed.
